business analysis diagramas are often an extension to UML, Sparx has a public pdf in the main page, here is the link:

http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/WhitePapers/The_Business_Process_Model.pdf

it should give you a place to start from

Also search this forum and Google by the keywords "Eriksson Penker".

as i could understand from the quick navigation of the provided links that the busniess process modeling is the base of software design and architect ... so

must i have good knowledge base about system analysis to be able to design good software systems ?

Incidentally, I think the word "newbie" should be banned from post subjects in ALL forums (everywhere!) - because it is irrelevant to the question, and in fact distracts from it.
There is then a tendency to think "this guy hasn't been bothered to read up, why else would he use that term".

If you don't know, you don't know ! I'm sure even our GurusTM will say they have had to ask seemingly obvious questions from time to time, I know I have.

No disrespect, Ahmed !
(PS. use the Preview more ! Who is this 'girl thingy' to which you refer ? Angelina ? Kylie ? Gwen ?? We need to know.)

The simple answer is: yes.  If you don't know what's the purpose of your system, it's not likely to fail. It's for sure.

What it a tree without roots?

OTOH you can design a brilliant system - without any use. Maybe we will see times when artists are judged for the software they designed. Useless artifacts, but sooo nice. ;D

In fact - Der Glasperlenspieler, though I expect Thomas himself is more of a Perlenspieler.

Couldn't some modern writer do a novel about the metaphysical angst of a UML modeller, with allegories to the systems he/she is modelling and metamodels that had to be created ...

Oh, sorry, I just woke up, and it was all a dream.

This metaphysical novel has already started. Some recent posts of Paolo and Bruce (here) are actually ment to be scenes of a drama ;D
(Just kidding. I'm not open minded enough at the moment to join that kind of discussion :'()

OK, more seriously, I can help but I'd need to know a lot more about what you are looking to know.

A couple of quick things: the terms "business analysis" and "systems analysis" are relatively interchangable, at least in my neck of the woods. A "systems analyst" is more likely to have some programming skills and be oriented towards development.

thx alot Kevin

your post was helpful for me

my main target now is to be able to design powerful , easy to use software solutions to support my client's business

so if there any book titles or web site (4 tutorialas) as a reference in this topic it will be very helpful

also when i tried to design some software solution for a client i have faced a series problem ...

it was that this client doesn't have a clear workflow cicle or hierarchy for the organization chart (hope this to be clear)

so i had to read more about analysis in general

then i have read in the earlier posted link that the business analysis in the overall layer of software design (is it true ?)

which means that when you need to design good software for some enterprize ... you have to support this software with good analysis to the customer needs, resources ... etc
and if the client doesn't have a clear workflow you have to help him to have a one

so my requests is :

any good reference about software design and how to start

any correction about the idea of the relation between business analysis and software design if my idea is not correct

any helpfull business analysis reference

Best regards
Ahmed
