From classifiers to instances - connections lost

First you make a very decent looking classifier diagram, with dependencies and connections nicely in it.  Then you decide to make a set of instance diagrams based on the classifiers (typical for deployment scenarios).  The classifiers are easily put in as instances when you drag them in, f.e., but all dependencies/connections between the classifiers are lost when entering the instance world.  This might be correct behaviour in theory, but in practice it's a nuisance.  
Are there any problems with why it couldn't bring along these relations ?  Optionally ?
