activation problems on sequence diagrams
« on: November 10, 2005, 01:48:10 pm »
Hello

I have the following problem.

When I have a sequence diagram with two lifelines. The first sends a message to the second and then the second sends a message to the first (not being a return-message). No new activation is shown on the first lifeline.

I can show this with an example, but do not know how to post a picture.

Object A will have to "do something" before the activation appears.

Do you know how to post a sequence diagram (picture).

I think you do not understand me and I do not understand you.

Sorry

You need web server. Place it there and use the Picture icon to spec. the URL. You can use the EA User Group site to save a picture.

I have put the picture of the problem online here:.

As can be seen the message m4 does not crate an activation.
How can I solve that?

That one I did not try before but it still does not what is intended.

You get:

But I want:

or you get:

but what I need is:
.

This last one is a standard example in the OMG UML 2.0 final superstructure document (page: 480, figure 14.15)

Last time I asked Sparx, EA couldn't do it. They said they would work on it, but as far as I know it still doesn't work.

I do think we should press them to remember this issue.
