New - Want to learn UML
« on: January 25, 2006, 12:34:57 pm »
Hi All,

To learn Modeling, I think the best way is to start with an example.

So I want to know if anyone (the more the better) want to model a system, and discuss things as we progress?

If so, I have an idea for a project (No it is not something I am working on), this is just an excercise, but the goal is to produce something useful and learn from it.

So if you are intrested, let me know and we will discuss, what we should do next.

Thanks
Mike Wassermann :)

You do realize most people on this board do this for a living and get paid decent salaries for it?

I suggest looking into a good book instead.  There are plenty of examples in them.

 ???

This statement expresses my goal: If so, I have an idea for a project (No it is not something I am working on), this is just an excercise, but the goal is to produce something useful and learn from it.

I am not doing this for profit. And if anyone has a problem with doing it as a teaching/learning example, need not apply.

On the other hand, to prove my point, we can vote on a project and don't have to use my idea.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,
in theory this sounds good and sometimes people have plenty of time. For example Paolo and Jim had some broad philosopic discussions about UML (search for meronymy in this board - okay not yet ;D). They seem to be busy now, but still read threads. Also someone else has tried to start such a learning project - it ebbed away. You are free though to start with a model and upload it to the EA Usergroup (see top of the automation board). Anyway you will find lots of information and people answering your questions here. Your questions should be concise, not "can you explain UML, please".
