Control flow missing from Tool box
« on: January 31, 2006, 01:46:17 am »
WE have recently upgraded from EA version 5.0 to 6.1 and found that for some users the activity diagram tool box is missing the control flow symbol.

Can any one help explain this?

The toolbox is much larger - contains more panels as well as more symbols - in 6.1. On most screens and workspace perspectives you will have to scroll down to see the control flow.

EA seems to reset the menus and toolbars when you do a full upgrade (rather than just apply a patch) as you would have when you upgraded. You will have to go into Tools/Options and select the "UML Element Toolbox" entry froim the list on the left.

Now comes the part I always get wrong the first time. Thus I always end up doing this twice, getting more practice than folks who do it correctly. Sigh...
  • Select the "Activity" entry from the "Visible Folders" list. Make sure you don't clear the checkbox!
  • Scroll down the "Visible Buttons" list until you find the "Control Flow" checkbox, and make sure you check the box.
  • Click the "Save Button List" button.

This should fix you up just fine. You will find several folders where a few buttons are unchecked by default; in most cases the unchecked buttons are at the bottom of a long list, and you will need to scroll down to find them. If you change a checkbox in the Folders list, you must remember to click the "Save Folders List" button to save the change (or get additional practice at this like yours truly).

Hope this helps,
David
No, you can't have it!
