Activity Edge Connectors
« on: February 08, 2006, 12:27:50 pm »
I'm new to EA and struggling how to depict edge connectors so I don't have lines going all over the place.  Curently I'm using a synch element but has anyone been able to add edge connectors like the one shown below (the 'A' in the circle)?

Thanks in advance,

Kappy

Hi there,

Question: where's the other 'A'? The notation is only valid in UML if it's on the same diagram. To reproduce it in EA, right-click the connector and select "Bend Line at Cursor", repeat, then right-click between the line points and select "Suppress Line Segment". Finally, give the connector the name "A".

If the other 'A' is on a different diagram then you should probably use a Final node.

Yes you are right the diagram is missing the other 'A', and your suggestion worked.

Kappy/Neil,  its almost too  8) for school .....but

Beware of the following canines:

1.  All Suppress Line Segment does is hide the segment in the diagram.  You can "accidently" select the hidden segment and drag it around destroying the diagram.

2. Guards, stereotypes and weights shown as edge labels take on a mysterious life of their own.  Try adding a few of these, adjusting their position and then move one of the connector points.

3. Try adding a few more bends at either end of the visible edges.

4. Try deleting one end of the hidden segment - now that's cute!

5.  You cant "re-use" a link.
