Status types on elements other than requirements
« on: February 09, 2006, 02:02:18 am »
This is really a follow on to :

http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=general;action=display;num=1139394413

for which Thomas gave me the answer.   On requirements and issues the shape of the symbol has the thin strip to the left which is used to display the colour coding on diagrams for the status of the element, and with everything set up properly this works a treat.   However, if I try to use the same method to show the status of say, Use Cases,  by ticking the "Use case" box in the "Applies to " dialogue available from Settings/General Types/Status Types,   this has no effect.  I guess this is because the Use Case oval shape doesn't have the thin strip to the left to display the colour coding.

So, the question is, for element types other than Requirements/Issues,  how do you get the status colour coding to appear ?

thanks

I know for packages it's their shadow, since I asked the same question some time ago (and was as helpless as you). Probably UC are the same.

As usual you're absolutely right Thomas,  but it's anything but obvious.  One of the reasons for this is that it looks as though only the stroke of the shadow changes colour and not the fill.   While still not ideal, I think it would work better, in other words be more obvious,  if the fill of the shadow took on the same status colour as well.

Thanks - the amber mono screen my great grandad gave me is in the skip now!

It was ticking the 'applies to' box - I thought that filtered the list on the drop down  :-[ rather like the stereotypes configuration   :o
