XMI Import from MagicDraw
« on: February 20, 2006, 08:23:31 pm »
I'm trialling Enterprise Architect 6.0.779, and have been trying to import some MagicDraw UML Use Case/Deployment diagrams.

I've tried importing with XMI 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 formats, all of which result in the Case Objects (eg Packages, Classes, Tools) coming through, but the actual model diagrams don't get generated.

If I export it with Unisys XMI from MagicDraw, I get the model diagrams along with the objects, but they are still incomplete and don't layer fully. It has created three diagrams instead of one.

Is this a known bug?

As I said somewhere else XML isn't XML and alike XMI isn't XMI. There are different flavours and they are good to transfer data from one tool of its kind to another of the same. But as you start going from Rose to EA to Visio to ... you are in trouble. Don't expect more than you've achieved so far.

Well. There might be another truth outside, but that is what I read from posts here. :-/
