Shared License Management fails using CIFS
« on: January 19, 2006, 03:05:52 pm »
When I launch Enterprise Architect 6.1 and try to acquire a shared license key which has been installed to a network file store (NetWare 6.5) I am able to attach and retrieve the license key using a client with the Novell client installed (NCP protocol).  However, if I use a cliet without the Novell client (SMB protocol - attaching via CIFS) that can attach to the shared storage space and create/delete files without any problems, I am unable to acquire the needed license key.  I receive the error message "Error reading Key Store file:  Key file has been moved."  Any ideas?

When you create a keystore, you typically cannot move it from it's original location.  This is by design to stop users from simply copying the keystore file to their local systems.

When you create a new keystore, you should be prompted asking if this is on a Novell Netware File server.  If creating the store on Novell, you will need to answer yes to this.

When on a Novell File System, EA checks to see whether the path specified to the keystore by the user is identical to that of the administrator who created it.  If not, you will see the "file has moved" message.  Make sure your users are accessing the keystore on the exact same path you've used to create it.

Hope this helps.

Hy,

i have the latest Version of EA Running (or not). I have a shared Key Store and its installed on a Fileserver where i copied the address into the Licence-Window of EA. After some Hardware-Change on the Server it isn't working anymore for me. The Path to the Key-Store hasnt changed at all (its exactly the same Network-Resource, incl. IP-Address).

A colleague has installed EA after the hardware change he isnt having any troubles like me... Can it be affected by Hardware change (or OS change, like from Windows to Linux)? the network path is 100% the same as before...

thanks in advance
regards

The only hardware change that should impact the keystore is if it has been moved to a different physical drive.  On non-novell filesystems, the serial number of the hard drive is recorded when the key store is created, meaning that it cannot be used on any other physical drive, even if the logical path has remained the same.

You may need to create a new store using SSKeyStore.exe and load your keys in again from your original registration email.

If needed, you can obtain the latest version of SSKeyStore from the following location (Registered users only):
http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/products/ea_corporate_floating_version.html

If you have any further problems, please contact support ([email protected]).
