SQL 2005 Comments
« on: February 26, 2006, 02:29:02 pm »
Has anyone been able to successfully import the Table Column description from SQL 2005?

Every time I try importing the schema via ODBC the comments always default to the column name instead of the column description.

I tried several experiements several builds ago, immediately after SQL 2005 went to production. Since we were using SQL 2005 Express, and the MS management tools were unstable, we abandoned the product (SQL 2005 Express) for the time being, and my EA experiemnts went onto the back burner.

I had some anomalies at the time, but decided to wait until: MS had their act together, and I had the time to look at the EA interface again. This happy conjunction of circumstances has yet to materialize.

Several builds of EA have come out since then. You should make sure you are using the latest - 787 at this writing.

Still, if EA is retrieving the wrong information from the ODBC engine, it is worth reporting this as a possible bug. The Sparxians will want to know this, and if there is a workaround or you are missing something, they are very good at 'returning the call.'
No, you can't have it!

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I'm using the latest build, I guess I was hoping for a work around. I'll post a bug report and see if it can be resolved.

Any chance this is going to be fixed soon? I've yet to hear back about from my bug request and the 2 releases since then haven't addressed this issue.

You should send a bug report to Sparx. There's a form link on the EA main site.

There will be a fix in build 790.
