Format Toolbar - Styles -- HELP!
« on: May 25, 2006, 02:25:48 am »
Can some kind soul explain how the Format Toolbar works?  I've looked in the Help, but I still can't make it work reliably...

I'm interested in defining styles and applying them.  I've created some styles and can apply them some of the time, at other times it seems to not work.

It seems I can't set fonts with the style.  Is that correct?    :'(

TIA,
Paolo

When you create a style it asks whether you want to make it a font or a paragraph style.

....

ooops hang on.  Are you talking about linked documents here?

Here's what I know:

There are 3 sets of appearance properties:
-one set for each diagram shape
-one set for each model element
-and a standard set (Tools->Options->Standard Colors)

Appearance styles cascade in the order: diagram shape, model element, Ea standard colours.

The renderer will transend to the next set if a property is set to "default".

The Format Toolbar modifies the appearance settings for the diagram shape, where as the Element->Appearance->Configure Default Appearance operates on the model element.

HTH,

Ash :)

The Font setting is part of the diagram shapes appearance settings, however can't be set using the format toolbar and is not incorporated with styles.

It can be set in the shapes context menu (Appearance->Set Font).

We need Text based styles also...

How does modify work?  When I select Modify Current Style, nothing seems to happen?

It seems the Modify command saves the current values of the Format toolbar to an existing style specifed by the style combobox.  I guess the menu item could have been called "Save".
