How does yabb know which messages I have read?

bruce (obviously too much time on my hands)
"It is not so expressed, but what of that?
'Twere good you do so much for charity."

Oh I forgot, we aren't doing him are we.

With a cookie of course. Try using it without cookies...

You must be doing something wrong. When I delete the cookies, I'm logged off. Unfortunately I'm sitting here at the customers site with a Danish IE. So 1) I don't speak/read much Danish and 2) I don't know where to disallow cookies in IE at all since I personally do not use that beast at home. But deleting the cookies definitely throws you out...

I'm not sure it's done with cookies.  If I login on a different computer for the first time,  my userid is recognised and which messages I've read reflected correctly.  Must be something flagged by user in the forum database I think.

No. Then Yabb must be clairevoyant. You likely have used the computer before and the cookie is still there. Give it a try and delete all or the specific cookie and you're out.

From what I know about YABB (only as much as I have learned while using it here) YABB records the last date/time you viewed a thread with your profile on the server, and has an upper limit on how long it keeps that information  (100 days on ours).  As a result if you go back to a page of threads that you last looked at over 100 days ago they all say unread.

By which time we'll likely have forgotten anyway...

I notice that YABB 2.x has been around for a while. Any particular reason you remain at the current version?

[Not that I have any real knowledge of the issues, but I was wondering if improved search or other functions have come along.]
No, you can't have it!

Don't get them to do an unnecessary upgrade - the last time they did that they lost half the forum for a few days !!!
