Import source directory to get new classes
« on: June 25, 2006, 12:35:27 am »
hi,

What is the correct way to get new classes into the model from source code?

I used Import Source Directory.
The first time gets all the classes in.
Then i added new classes into source code.
Then i tried Import Source Directory the same way as the first time.
However, the new classes do not get imported.

The new classes are *.vb
Platform is VB.Net.
.Net v1.1

Thanks.

Take a look at the synchronization settings when you do the imports. By default, EA tries to synchronize your model with your system. After the first time you do an import - the first time there is nothing on the EA side to synchronize - EA will behave differently depending on whether you want to update the model to match the system, or the system to match the model. There are several variations on this theme.

The user guide is a bit vague on these, although it is still worth reading through carefully (a few times, after which it makes more sense). I think there is also a white paper relating to this on the Sparx site but I cannot remember, nor to I have the URL.
