connector's color in a profile ?
« on: September 04, 2005, 12:53:23 am »
Hi,
did any of you try setting the colour of a connector in an UML profile ?
We tried but no success - I wonder whether this is possible and how :-).

thanks, regards, Moses

Hi Moses,

try this way:

1. Open the model where you defined your uml profiles
2. Select your connector and press the key F4
3. Select border color - Deselect Use Default Color
4. Change the color
5. Save Model as UML Profile

Hi Oliver and Moses,
What you've described implies I can change the colour of a connector by applying a profiled stereotype, although I can't change its colour with an unprofiled stereotype.

Is that correct?

If so, can I do it post facto?  That is, having assigned the stereotypes before creating a profile, if I add the profile the colours will magically change?

Questionigly,
Paolo

Hi Paolo,
In general, I think the stereotypes are updated from the profile, so I'd suppose this will happen for the connector, too.
But, bad news :-(. Apparently, the existing connectors won't take the color of the stereotype and the new connector you drag from the profile toolbox won't have the propper color set (default that is) - a problem elements had some time ago, hopefully this will be worked on too :-)

Tried that, but synch does not offer any of the links. Maybe I'm doing something wrong ???

Probably not. I definitely have a link with an according stereotype, but it does not appear in the synch list. I'd call that a bug.

Hi Paolo,
no it is not correct. You can change the color foreach stereotypes profiled or  unprofiled. Select the Configuration Menu. Select UML - Stereotypes. Click the Button On the right side from the new window you have the  possibilities for the color selection.

Kind regards from Berlin

Hi Paolo,
oops i forgot the second answer.
No they don't change magically the color because the old stereotype and the new stereotype have two different Primary Keys in MS Access

Oliver, this never used to work for connectors (it does for shapes). and for me still doesn't. :(  Which version are you using?

Thomas, can you do it?

Doesn't work, although it looks as it should ???. Never made use of that before, so I can't tell really :-[

Hi Paolo,
Hi Thomas,

I had not tested this with connectoren  :-[. It doesn't work for me too.  :'(

A view into the data base shows however, that EA has the changed configuration stored.
I think it is a bug.

Oliver  ???

Hi,

I have an answer from sparx support:
