Phantom Elements
« on: August 22, 2006, 11:32:45 am »
If I select an element in a diagram and then press "Del" key, the element dissapears from the diagram.

However it remains in the tree view and when selected in the tree view, can be editected etc.

However there is no way one an see any image for it in the diagram.

So has this been deleted or not?

Thx

No Hugo, it has not been deleted - at least not from your model. It has however been removed from the diagram you are working with.

You can highlight the element in the Project Browser tree, then delete it from the context menu (via right-click).

You can also delete an element from the model with control-delete. This works from both the Project Browser tree and a diagram. You will get a confirmation dialog unless you turn this off with the Options dialog; I'll leave you to figure out where to look, so you'll not make a mistake before you are used to the new behavior.

Hi Hugo,

just one adding to David's advice. You may find all your elements not used in diagrams via Advanced Find / Search List: Find Orphans.
I hope this will help you clean the model faster.

Thanks Bary!

That's a vital piece of the puzzle. Without the ability to find the 'orphans' in a large model, you'd have a very hard time proving the elements were still there.
