Cancelling Big Operations
« on: September 03, 2006, 08:28:44 pm »
Further to my post regarding cancelling a large Export/Import,

Is there any way to cancel (incorrectly initiated) large baseline compares or expansions thereafter?

I performed a large compare and it took a LONG time (oh well) but thene I accientally clicked exapnd all nodes...  I left it running on Friday night, but when I got in this morning (Monday) the expansion appeared to have completed, but the Comparison panel won't show...

Is there any way to (correctly) cancel these large operations?

TIA,
Paolo

Assumption #1: You have saved all work before starting the compare.
Assumption # 2: Baseline compare would appear to be a query only activity from the POV of EA.

ergo: For this one I'd probably just kill the app while it was doing the compare.

...  not that this answers the question though.

Ah... Grasshopper - killing the application will kill the unsaveable comparison which took over two hours to do...

(I ended up killing EA - but now I'm trying to recreate the comparison...)

Sparxians - you must provide functionality to save the comparison...

Sorry, I thought the "big compare" was initiated by mistake.
