What does the arrow mean in Sequence Diagram?
« on: September 27, 2006, 01:38:29 am »
Hi all,

When making a sequence diagram, I notice that sometimes there is an arrow close to a message. It changes the appearence of the control. Could anybody explain the semantics?

PS I have a picture, but i have problems showing it in this message...  :-[

Thanks!
Han.

Showing a picture: You need to upload it somewhere in public Internet. e.g. http://imageshack.us and then it should work.
Exempla grata.

Right click the label. Direction/what you need.

In Communication Diagrams this shows the message direction. I don't know why it shows in Sequence Diagrams?!

There is an arrow that gets displayed (from 6.5) near the source of a connector when it's selected to allow the activation level to be changed.

See http://www.sparxsystems.com/EAUserGuide/index.html?lifelineself_messagehierarch.htm

Is that what you're seeing?

See my last post Han.  There's a link to the EA help file that describes what the arrow is used for.
