BPMN import / export
« on: September 22, 2006, 05:45:41 am »
Does EA have the functionality of importing or exporting of a BPMN xml when using the BPMN add-in?

Do you mean BPMN or BPEL?

I don't know the answer offhand in either case, and the help file for Beta 2 is silent on "import," "export," "BPEL," and "BPMN."

However, I do remember an old Sparx post saying that they were working towards one of them. I think it was BPEL, which would make more sense considering the direction that BPMI/OMG have been moving for the last year or so. [Although I'd personnaly love to see BPML...]

Perhaps you will request this from Sparx as a feature. From the EA main menu try Help / On-line Features / Request-a-Feature - this route gets it right in the hopper at Sparx.

I don't remember this being talked about with regard to EA.

You could raise this as a suggestion of course. However, IMHO it might be faster to get on the BPEL or BPMN bandwagon - it's likely one of these would be delivered sooner - and find some tool to convert to XPDL.

We're hoping to import the diagram into a BPM software tool for execution. What would be the best way from EA to export to XPDL now? I'm assuming that be will have to apply an XSLT somehere, either internal to EA or an external program. Could this technique be used to import into EA as well?
