Functional testing in EA
« on: September 27, 2006, 08:12:07 am »
Hi,
I'm trying to figure out, if EA can be used for integration (functional) testing. Here's what I would like to do but have no idea how or even if it's possible.
I would like to create test cases under the test case model. These are loosely based on the Business Use case models. I can create use cases of stereotype test case fine.
Now I would like to import the use case scenarious from the Business model into the test case to have something to base the testing on.
In addition I would like to import the functional requirements from the Requirements Model.
How do I do that and is that possible?

In addition, after all the test cases have been written, I would ideally like to get a traceability matrix with all test cases in one row and all requirements in the next. I know that there is the relationship matrix, however this seems to be a bit unwieldy if you have several hundred requirements and test cases.

And before I forget, when a requirement is changed, could we flag the associated test case to mark that the requirement has changed and the test needs reviewed?

Any ideas?

Newbie out  ;)

Okay here goes...

Create a "TestCase", and then with the "View Testing" window open (Press ALT-3), click the testcase, then the "integration" tab in  the view testing window, then right-click under test column and select "Import Element Scenario".

Okay, now with this window open, unclick "Show Related Elements Only", then use the drop down menu for "Select Element", select the use-case and the scenarios defined for the selected use case will appear in the list above. select the ones you want and they will be added as integration "tests" to the test case you created!

Hope that helps!
