HOW2 switch to diagram/report view in EA?
« on: January 25, 2008, 01:15:37 am »
Sorry for my poor Eng.
I'm using the EA 7.0.815 and reading the document downloaded from the http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/downloads/whitepapers/Requirements_Management_in_Enterprise_Architect.pdf

There is "Different Views of Requirements Using the Report View" chapter on the pg.11 and a VERY usefull view for the Requirement management. There is also hint how to get such a view:
  • The Report View. The diagram view can be set to report and search view mode.
  • To swap between the diagram view and the report view from the main menu, select
    View | Report View.

I folowed the manual and get an example Requirement diagramm. Now I need to get a report view , but i can't realize how to do this because I don't have the "View | Report View" option in the man menu of EA.  :-[
Look at the picture please.
Sorry can't understand why the picture is unaccessible, try this please http://picasaweb.google.ru/leonid.sam/Forums/photo#5159319503769433794
Does anybody have an idea what I do wrong?
Or "HOW2 switch to diagram/report view in EA?"  ???
Everything is already good and will be better!

Hi Lion_son,

First, no need to apologize, your English is fine.

I think that with EA Version 7.0 the Report View became obsolete. If I'm correct the same (or similar) functions are now handled by the Element List, also available from the View menu. It takes a bit of getting used to, but the Element List is quite powerful.

You will also note that the Model Search (no longer combined with the Report View) has changed a bit.

Unfortunately the white paper in question predates EA 7.0 by quite a bit. Like many such things the white paper was current - in fact the features were quite new - when it was written. Most of the EA support for requirements in the paper is still relevant, but other stuff was superseded with the release of EA 7.0.

You could submit a bug report to Sparx, telling them about this. We're still working with Sparx to get the 'primary' documentation up to date, and they are making great progress. The problem with the white paper is also something they should be aware of. They cannot fix what they don't know about, and I don't think they have time to go through everything looking for this kind of thing.

You should follow the Report a Bug link below the Support link at the bottom of any forum page. When you get the bug report page, if you are a registered user, follow the link above the form, otherwise just fill the form.

No, you can't have it!

Thank you Midnight a lot.
I'll try to use the Element list as you recomended.
I'm a registered user indeed and I've already sent a BugRep to Sparx folowing your guidance :)
