Package Name on Linked Classes
« on: December 20, 2006, 09:25:11 am »
Hi there, does anyone know how to display the package name on a linked class (for example an entity is linked-in from a package into a diagram and referenced by another entity that is local to the diagram's package).

Cheers, Stuart

Open the diagram properties page using F5 or the menu. Experiment with the Highlight Foreign Objects and Show Additional Parents settings. You should be able to get things the way you want.

EA will only go back one level, so you will not be able to show the entire chain back to the highest level parent. However, IMHO this is seldom a requirement.
No, you can't have it!

Thanks Midnight.

I have the Highlight Foreign Objects checked.  I also have the Hide Additional Parents unchecked.  But still this still does display the [package name]:class name as I thought it should do.  Could this be a bug perhaps?

Incidentally I got into this mess by experimenting with unchecking 'Show Linked Items in Package' and 'Show Package Items Scope' on the Local Options screen.  These are now checked, but to no avail.

Stuart,

Try with a new diagram.

Also, if that fails, you could try with a new project.

Have you run a Tools|Data Management>Project Integrity Check [Shift+F9]
