Sales Presentation
« on: January 09, 2007, 02:13:06 am »
I have been ask to do an internal presentation of EA.....

I have been using EA on and off for the last 4 years (after evaluating many other tools back in 2003) as I move from company to company. My evangelism has resulted in the purchase of many licenses  ;D

I have just started to use EA again, in the last 3 months and noticed an explosion of features. They've probably always been there but I've never needed or looked for them.

I just want to present (probably about 30 minutes) a standard development Cycle; UseCases, to Class Diagrams, Sequence diagrams, Implementation, Testing and maintenance.

Any Top Tips that would WoW my audience would be greatfully accepted.........inparticular testing and maintenance.

EA seems to have turned into such a Mega tool just filtering the features has become a challenge, but a nice one!

Very greatfully for any words of Wisdom.

thanks, e-klektek.

ps. really like the Html publishing feature.

I once bought the ICONIX CD (somewhere here on Sparx partners pages) where that nice guy goes through some simple examples. That might also help with setting up a presentation.

In no particular order take a look at the following. In each case you'll probably be able to make a quick decision whether to highlight or avoid the feature in your presentation.

Shape Scripts.

New (or greatly enhanced) Sparx add-ins for BPMN, SysML, DOORS integration, Eclipse and Visual Studio (there are two, depending on whether you use VS 2005 or not).

Support for metamodels and profiles.

XMI 2.x support. [This is quite new, and there are still some issues here. However, Paolo and Darren are leading the charge on identifying defects, and Sparx is doing an excellent job of patching them up. Things aren't too bad now, and should be quite stable in a few builds.]

Makes a big difference to whom you are making the presentation;  Management,  Finance, Quality Assurance, Project Managers, Modelers, etc.  Who's gonna be there?
Verbal Use Cases aren't worth the paper they are written upon.

Presentation went well. Looks like around another 20 Licences initially ............ ;D

Not difficult really the competition was Visio with Templates !

However did hit a problem with IE7.0 viewing the generated HTML. I guess there is something in Internet options I have to check or uncheck. Help greatfully accepted.

Cheers, e-klektek.

There was a known issue with IE 7.0 and the first build of EA that came out afterwards. One of the Sparx folks had written here in the forum that the issue was corrected in the (then) next build. Check the build number, and try again if you are not using 802 (current as I write this) or later.

If you are using the current build, you should submit a bug report to Sparx directly. Use the Support link here, or from the EA main menu choose Help | On-line Resources | Bug Report Page.
