Help me with my firewall

What will be a better one firewall I can download and use for free, that will come with my windows xp and won't slow it down? :(

In your case, an AirGap II firewall would probably be the best solution

Since 10 years I use a Linux server at home. Since it was necessary it served as a firewall which so far resisted all attacks (yes, you can crack it, but it's too hard for hackers as I'm not MIT or the like).

I wasn't quite as literal in my understanding of 'anything' !

But I have asked more general questions in the past myself - e.g. about a doc mgmt system. I suppose I felt that I would have common ground on that subject with other EA users - & vice versa.

On the thread itself, once you have a hardware firewall (e.g. ADSL modem/router) in place, you have dealt with most of the important threats. I think those broadband companies that offer a 'free' USB modem are irresponsible since they rely on the user having some firewall s/w as well, often not the case, leading to computer takeover.
