Mike,
I know this is not the response you're hoping for, but what are you most interested in?
The discussion level here is impressive, and pretty wide-ranging, for a product oriented forum. As I write this there are 9220 threads. [You can check this on the forum home page, look at the left side above the section headings.]
Dive into the each section, and take a quick scan of the topics on the first few pages. This will give you a bit of the flavor for the section, although it will be far from perfect. That's how I started when I first got involved, just as a reader; I needed some ideas concerning automation and did not know where to start.
If you have some idea of what you're interested in, try the search page. You can ask that the search only look at topics if you want a fast scan of what's available. [One caution here: search is very literal. Try a few variations on your theme, since others may not have used exactly the same keyword you would. Also, particularly for topic searches, you may run afoul of spelling errors; search has no defense against these.]
When you see something that you feel you can contribute to, get involved.
If you have a question about EA, or UML (there's a section for that), or a suggestion for improvement to EA, start a good thread, rather than waiting for one.
Oh yes, one other thing. Welcome aboard!
David
