External document within a generated rtf
« on: June 14, 2007, 06:50:09 am »
Hi

I would know if is it possible to insert the content of an external piece of documentation (rtf, doc, images) within a generated rtf.

If I link a document to an item, the generated document contains only a link in the chapter "associated files".

If i use the document artefact, the content of the doc is displayed with the artefact element (and not with the associated element). Moreover this artefect can't be linked to an external contents.

Is it possible to do such a thing?

Thanks for your help
Jean-Philippe

I don't think so Jean-Philippe,

I could be quite wrong about this, so flag this thread to see if other users or Sparx knows how.

As a workaround, you might be able to create a custom template that included your document. Still, I suspect this would hard wire the included document. [Or at least the name of the included file, but perhaps you could switch the file between generations. Not elegant to be sure.]

If it turns out you cannot do this (regardless of whether the workaround works) I think this would make an excellent feature request.

Do a search of my posts with "Feature Request" as a key phrase (without the quotes) to see how we've been doing this, so that the request is tied to a forum thread.

No, you can't have it!
