Importing SQL Server DB in EA 7
« on: July 10, 2007, 10:19:35 pm »
Hi all,

I am importing a database from a Microsoft SQL Server to EA and than trying to connect myself to the .eap file throught access and import the tables.

My question is where can I find the white paper that tell me how the tables are imported in EA (how is each element imported) for SQL Server to EA and how EA than set this information in the .eap files so that I can import this to Access (from access i do File -> Get External Data -> Link tables).

Thank you for your help.

Have a nice day.  :)

Hm. I really don't understand what you want to do. Maybe you could re-formulate your question. Or somebody else has a clue and gives an answer?

ok. sorry for my english.
I mean that I have a Entity Relationship schema in a data model in Enterprise Architect and I open a new file in access and import the fields of the .eap file with the following procedure File -> Get External Data -> Link tables

My question is ... how are the data present in the model distribuited in the different tables of EA?

For example ... T_attribute contains all the attribute of the table with some of the attribute of the attribute), the table t_attributetab cointains the different primary key and the filed where the are respect to the table t_attribute and the charactheristic (field value), and so on.

Is somewhere a white paper that explain how the different attribute and characteristic of a table are distruited in the different tables of Enterprise Architect?

Thank you.

Stefano

I think Sparx never providede a mapping for their DB model.
This is quite frustratring for customers that want to dvelop on it (we actualy developed an application for internal use over EA).
I hope we'll have ti some day...
