Use Case Pre & Post Condition Visability
« on: July 27, 2007, 07:34:13 am »
Re: Build 814

How do I make the Pre- & Post-conditions specified on a Use Case element's properties in a Use Case Diagram visible?  I added the conditions as Pre & Post condition constraint types in element's property window.

I've turned on every visibility check box I can find, but nothing happens on the diagram.  :(

Verbal Use Cases aren't worth the paper they are written upon.

Hi,

Right-click the Use Case -> Advanced -> Use Rectangle Notation.

Then, right click the (now rectangular) Use Case and right-click -> Set Feature Visibility.  Check the "constraints" check box on the right.

I fear Gary's correct here Jim.

Unfortunately you'll have to live with EA's version of rectangle notation. But at least it works.

I've not checked this in many builds, but EA used to get stuck once you used rectangle notation for an element. EA often defaulted that element to rectangle notation, even in other diagrams. It also seemed that even if you returned all instances to non-rectangle notation, future instanced defaulted once again to rectangles. Other use cases on the same diagram sometimed rendered as rectangles when the project was next opened.

It might be worth checking if this has cleared up. I't certainly been (perhaps much) more than a year since I've looked.

Thanks guys :)  Rectangle notation works as you state.  The rectangle even has a UC oval adornment, not a stereotype.

EA does not seem to get stuck in that format, for additional UC elements appear to default to the normal oval shape.
