Selectable flag NOT sticky (for some objects!)
« on: August 01, 2007, 04:45:27 pm »
As I've mentioned in other posts, I've given up reporting bugs (in the main) to Sparx since I'm discovering them faster than I can report them!  (Besides, my boss would like me to do his work, NOT Sparx's {Yes, I'm cheesed off!})

However this one is seriously impeding our usage and there doesn't seem to be any work around.  Unmarking the [X] Selectable menu item on Hyperlinks (particularly, but also Notes) is NOT sticky!  For some (not all!) Hyperlinks and Notes, when you close and reopen the diagram, the menu item is marked again, making the diagram item selectable again!  We haven't found any rhyme or reason for why some stay unselectable and others become re-selectable!

This causes problems for our users.  The normal way to activate a hyperlink is by double-clicking.  However, due to the insane inconsistency of the double-click action on the same object (sometimes it opens the Properties, sometimes it opens the associated diagram, sometimes it activates the internal feature for editing) we can't always guarantee the activation of the hyperlink if it is selectable!

We are producing visual documentation - where we make extensive use of hyperlinks to allow users to traverse the model in a multidimensional way - so this problem seriously impacts us, especially when if it enables the hyperlink or note text for editing, the user can inadvertently change the model content!

Has anyone else experienced this?  Does anyone know how to stop it, apart from Sparx writing code that works?

TIA,
Paolo
