Change page size/layout?
« on: August 15, 2007, 03:49:10 am »
How do I change the page layout so diagrams flow from page to page in a left to right fashion?  We have a very large printer we use to print diagrams so we can put them on the wall. We don't want things to flow top to bottom as there is more space going across the wall.

Just stretch your diagrams across the top of the page. Keep going when you reach the right margin, and allow EA to scroll horizontally.

This seems obvious, but it really works. If you view your diagrams with the page and zoom window you'll see that they stretch out in a 'ribbon' across the top of the window, with very little downward depth. When you print you'll get the same effect.

It helps to use print preview before you print. Also, you might want to set landscape paging, but 'eyeball' the results carefully before you print.

Important Practice printing before you commit. EA is very sensitive to printer settings, and tends to revert back to your Windows default printer at the drop of a hat. Take the time to figure out what happens when you try to print the 'ribbon' view.

Is there a way to get it to drop all page breaks? On the printer we use page wideth (or length if you print landscape) goes on forever. Visio can do this.

You might be able to do this, but it would be difficult.

EA keeps defaulting printer and page size to the current default Windows printer setup.

You'd have to have a printer driver that allowed you to set a custom page size. If you do, try that and see if it works.
