EA 7.0 confusing installation instructions
« on: August 07, 2007, 05:05:22 am »
Hi guys,
This is my first time on this forum.
I have EA 6.5 installed and being a registered user, just downloaded 7.0Only I downloaded both the easetupful.exe as well as the patch, EA70.zip.
Reading the installation instructions I had no way to know whether they are both mandatory to be installed or not, my questions:
1- Do I have to uninstall 6.5 or I can I simply install over it?
2- Could I just apply the patch directly on top of the 6.5 installation or should I, as suggested, first use easetupfull.exe?
3- If answer to 2: must use easetupfull, then should I still apply the patch? i.e. the patch is mandatory to apply for a valid EA 7.0 full install?

Thanks for your help (I have not trie anything yet, just wanted to learn the process for futurepotential upgrades)

FAD

keep it simple.
just D/L easetupfull and run it.

The patch file is an alternate way of upgrading from the previous build of EA and should not be used across different versions.

Thanks guys.  :)

Simonm: Would be good to add this extra information to the installation steps as it is not mentioned anywhere. (anywhere obvious that is)

Cheers  :D

um... Sparx have made it obvious.  I think the download page (if you read it) warns you that you need the full easetup if going to a new major version..

We'll I knew that before I "upgraded" as I un-installed / re-installed the new version.

We're using EA 6.5 with the project stored in SQL Server.
If I upgrade to EA 7.0 will I screw up anything for those users still using EA 6.5? Or do I have to get everyone on the project to upgrade at the same time?
