Mapping UI Control to Class Field
« on: September 04, 2007, 11:37:13 pm »
Is it possible to create a mapping between a UI control item and the field within the class that it will obtain its data from?

I have a data model and a UI model and would like to show how they map together.

Perhaps a realize or trace relationship.
No, you can't have it!

I'd recommend a dependency named ROLE after the field. You can not create any reference to a filed else.

I don't think you can make UML based references to fields. What I do in this situation is creating dependency between UI Control and a class, and setting UI Control Name to Class.Field.
It is most of the time easily readable on the diagram and easy to understand within the model itself.

Maybe it would be possible to create profile with UI Controls having source tag that would point to a field in a class?
I never needed anything more than the tag referencing another class though :) so I don't know if it will work.
