v7: Sequence Diagram message parameter display
« on: September 09, 2007, 11:58:20 pm »
Carrying on with the migration 6.5-7.0, and have discovered another slight difficulty:

On sequence diagrams in v6.5 the default 'Show Parameter Details' setting is 'Type Only'. I didn't know this because it always displayed the parameter name!

Now in V7.0 it seems that the 'Type Only' display is being enforced. If I manually change the 'Show Parameter Details' setting to 'Name Only' my parameter names come back. Interestingly if I set to 'Full Details' I still see nothing...

Question:
- Is there some way to set the default sequence diagram display parameter details to 'Name Only'?
- Can I globally change the diagram properties for all Sequence Diagrams in my model?

We could go through all the diagrams manually, but it'll take a while... and is a little frusrating because it re-sizes the message labels and alters the layout...

Off hand I don't know if there is a way to set this up for prior diagrams. If you don't find one, try a small add-in to iterate through your models. Perhaps this could work by opening the repositories directly as databases and tweaking the setting in each, once you find the setting.

Watch this thread in case Sparx or other users have a solution.

For future models you might try editing EABase (in your installation directory) to see if the default setting is inherited from there.

No, you can't have it!
