Have you ever considered adding a spam reporting button to this forum application.  Seems like it is needed lately.

Alas!  How do we prevent abusive use of the abuse button?  :-/

How about self-control (you can call it the inner human spam-filter)

Ignore the spam, no clicks, no views and hope the "market rules" will play.

No, the main problem is too easy registering. It should have one of those "tell me what number is in the picture" and "click on the link at the email we send you". Now it lets all automated bots register without any hasle at all.

Myself, I would like a reporting mechanism and to have the admins actually delete the message.  That way, hopefully only a small number of people will ever have to see it.

YaBB 2.1 is out and I think it supports captcha codes.

Unfortunately, the admins would only see the spam reports during office hours Melbourne time, and we're pretty quick at deleting spam at those times anyway.

The problem is what to do about forum spam that arrives after 5.30pm on a Friday afternoon. We aren't keen on introducing captcha codes because we don't want to put up barriers for people who want to make a positive contribution to the forums, but it may come to that unfortunately.
