Vendor comparison chart
« on: October 20, 2007, 05:19:01 am »
Maybe I'm looking for too much.  However, during the assessment phase of our SDLC we take the business and functional requirements and compare those to what vendor software is available in industry.  Obviously most off-the-shelf vendors would not cover all the requirements, but they may have enough when you weigh cost and ramp-up time to consider them as part of the solution.

I could export the requirements to Excel and create a matrix for comparison.  But I'd prefer to keep it within the EA project framework (without linking an external file).  Any thoughts?

Make a package with elements (Components) named as different SW vendors.
Then map your requirements to these vedors with e.g. Realization links using Relationship Matrix. Save this Matrix as profile.

Or try the model search. (Start with View | Model Search which has a requirements search already).

You can create all kinds of custom searches there. If you create a search using the in-built search builder, you can run it on a per package basis.
