what has changed since a date?
« on: October 24, 2007, 11:13:06 am »
hi all,

we want a simple listing of what elements have changed in an .EAP since a certain date or within a date range. we have looked at the EA baseline/diff capability but the performance isn't very good, plus that assumes that you had created a baseline at the time(s) that you which to diff to/with. is there another way? i can see how to do it in the automation API but I was hoping to find something without going to the API.

Steve

Take a look at the audit feature in EA 7.0.

[PS: Make sure you read the documentation before you turn this feature on.]

yes, have a look at the Auditing feature. Here is a link to the appropriate page in the online Help file. http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/EAUserGuide/auditing.htm

Note that if you turn it on, versions of EA earlier than 7.0 cannot access the model.

If you have any questions, please us know.

PS: You need the corporate edition to use auditing. A trial version can be installed to test Auditing out if you don't have the corporate edition already.

ah, great. thanks much. it would be cool to develop some sample XSL stylesheets that could convert log activity saved from a custom timeframe to a human readable report that would accompany a release of an .eap.
