Parts with types
« on: November 13, 2007, 07:28:44 am »
How can I draw a Part like the one shown here:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/rtnlhelp/v6r0m0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.xtools.modeler.doc/topics/ccompstruc.html

or on page 70 of The UML Reference Manual, 2nd. edition?

It contains "name:type".

Frank,

Can you not do something like we did in http://www.sparxsystems.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=UMLPRO;action=display;num=1193151189;start=20#20?

You'd have to make sure you specified a type for the part - I don't remember offhand how to do this, just that it is possible within EA - so that you got the entire string spelled out.

Got it Frank!

Right-click the part, then choose Set Feature Visibility from the context menu. On the bottom right of the dialog you'll see a Type section that only enables when you have a Part or Port selected.

To set the classifier (so it's not anonymous) then right-click the Part and choose Advanced | Set Property Type.

Once you've done the above the notation will take care of itself.

Amazing! (and a bit arcane)

Thanks, David.

More than a bit if you ask me, Frank.

Thanks, David.

But EA has an intuitive interface - it keeps telling me in the help and advertising...
