EA can´t connect to the project repository (Oracle
« on: November 28, 2007, 05:41:35 am »
Hy Folks,

I´m trying to connect to my project repository (Oracle database) but after following the steps to connect to the server and even the "Test connection" is well succeeded, after pressing the OK button nothing happens, the Project Browser is empty and no error messages are displayed.

Is there anybody here experienced with this issue?

Thanks in advance

Have you created that repository with a transfer?

Hi Gyowanny,

Have you done a Project Transfer operation yet?

You need to do one of these to 'seed' a new repository. This inserts various background information that the repository has to have in order for EA to treat it like a project - even an empty one.

You can find the necessary dialog from the EA main menu - you don't need to have a project open for this - via Tools | Options | Project Transfer.

I keep a few basic projects around to use as templates. They have the appropriate corporate standard settings I need, as well as preset reference data. These can be used to quickly initialize a project in a DBMS. If I expect to build several similar projects in a DBMS I port one of these templates in, then copy it using DBMS-specific tools.

No, you can't have it!

Guys, thanks for the quickly answer.

In fact I was informed by my boss that there is no need to do a Project Transfer.
The rest of my team just connects to the server and then checks out the projects that they want to work.
My feelling is that my current installation is corrupted ´cause when I try to perform a Project Transfer, after selecting the "source" a C++ error is throwed in my screen and the EA closes abruptly.

Thanks in advance
