Data WareHouse Modeling

Hello All,

Does anybody have a profile for data mining or BI, I'd like to model a data warehousing project using EA, but i need a start off point. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Take a look at the Common Warehouse Metamodel (CWM). You'll find it at the OMG site: http://www.omg.org/technology/cwm/.

This is a complex piece of work, and not for the faint of heart. Still, the two domains you cite are also complex, and a simple solution will likely get you nowhere in the long run. CWM was designed from the ground up to facilitate both your interests (among other things).

There are some very successful product suites built around the CWM, so it seems to work for some things.

BTW: As of around EA 6.x I've been able to import some of the OMG stuff into EA. It's a starting point.

I'm pretty sure it was part 3: http://www.omg.org/cgi-bin/doc?ad/2001-02-03.

If it does not load, see if you need to change the XMI declaration to use the UML instead of the MOF dialect of XMI. If that does not work perhaps EA or the CWM product have evolved once again.
