live link from user case to note
« on: December 19, 2007, 08:18:47 am »
In the book "Use Case Driven Object Modeling with UML" by Doug Roxenberg and Matt Stephens, on page 105 it states that in a robustness diagram I can create a live link from a Use Case to a Note so that the note is automatically updated when the Use Case is updated.

Spent about an hour with our most experienced EA person on site  and can not figure out how to do this.

Look up Note Links in the EA documentation.

However, I seem to remember that scenarios act a bit differently that other features. You'll have to experiment to see if you can make this work for you.
No, you can't have it!

Or see if you can get an answer directly from the Iconix people.

Wow was that buried...

Managed to make it work. Looks like I require one note for each scenerio rather than just one for all the scenerios, but it is a start.

Worked for one use case, but not another. I will investigate that. I did fine one for which it works, and that is what I needed. Thanks.

Seriously limited. I can link to one scenario at a time, and it links based on the name, so if I change the name, the link is gone. I understand why it works this way, but I should probably write an add-on if I want all of the text.
