Import Oracle Schema failure
« on: October 05, 2007, 06:09:40 am »
I'm trying to Import DB Schema from ODBC for an Oracle 10.2 database.  It connects, but when it tries "Retrieving list of tables from ODBC source..." I get a popup dialog saying "Unable to obtain table information."

I tried using the ODBC source in an Excel file and it worked fine.

I'm using Enterprise Architect Professional Edition version 6.5.806.

Thanks,
-Pete

check your access rights to the db
"It is not so expressed, but what of that?
'Twere good you do so much for charity."

I had a similar problem but my password is working when I click Import because it pulls all the objects from database for me to pick. I select all and click OK. At Current Action text box it shows Reverse engineer DDL:
-- Retrieving list of objects from ODBC source...
-- Retrieving details for selected tables .....
-- properties for table[first table]
-- ..
-- ..
--Failed retrieving synonyms for table [first table name]
I use 7.0 version.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

Recently someone had some trouble with Oracle connections that cleared up after an upgrade to the latest Oracle client drivers.

I don't remember if this related to importing a schema or just repository use.
No, you can't have it!

I received the "Unable To Obtain Table Information" error when trying to reverse engineer an Oracle database from Windows XP 64 bit.  It worked from Windows XP 32 bit.
