Export Analysis Diagram in Use Case Documentation
« on: February 14, 2008, 08:50:46 am »
Hi everybody,

how can I include the Analysis diagram in the documentation of a Use Case?

I've tried to modify the template for the Use Case with zero sucess on this and the help documentation couldn't resolve this problem.

I'll really appreciate if someone has any information.  ;D

Thanks in advance,

What exactly do you mean by "the" Analysis diagram?
No, you can't have it!

Hi Midnight,

look, I have this Analysis diagram associate to a use case diagram, that is, in the project tree, is under the use case diagram (sorry I put it this way, I'm new to the Enterprise Architect and I don't know the correct terms) and I would like to include this diagram within a template in based on the Use Case template that ships with the EA.

I copied the use case template and play around with it to find a way to include this other diagram, but I couldn't find a way.

Thanks for the replay and I hope this info this is enough so you can help me out (if not, I can send you a screenshot or something like it ;D )

Yes, I understand now.

I really do not know if you can accomplish this. My suggestion is to take a look at some of the other templates. Make a copy of one that displays multiple diagram types, then open that in the editor. See if you can figure out how each diagram type is filtered. If you can see it then try to do the same with your template.

It might help to open two instances of EA, one for the template you are reading (the 'other' template) and one for the one you are modifying (your custom use case template).

You might find it easier to start with a different template, and filter things out rather than adding something into the use case template.

Sorry I don't have a ready made solution.

Thanks for your anwser David!  :D

I've been trying to do just what you said, but I started in the wrong end: trying to add things   :)

I'll certainly try this out.

Thanks for your help! :)

First, find out if it works at all.

Please post back and let us know what happens. If things don't make sense, post back before you get in too deep. Someone will have some ideas once you get going.

Ever tried to check the element diagram checkbox in the RTF template editor ? ;)

If you don't need RTF, Select the HTML documentation; select the use case package under which you have the analysis diagram; generate. You will get your use case with analysis diagram (robustness?) and sequence diagram - everything in the package including a listing of all the elements.

Hi again,

I actually need the documentation on RTF format, so what Oliver suggested is what fits best for me, thanks Oliver!

The HTML also worked great and I'm thinking of use it to share the documents among my teammates, thanks OldEm!

Well, thanks everybody for your help! :)
