Shared licence admin...
« on: February 27, 2008, 02:49:27 am »
We are using shared licenses with EA Corporate edition. It seems that keys are not automatically returned.

a) Is it possible to configure it so that keys are returned after a specified period of no usage?
b) Is it possible to see who has the keys and revoke them so that others can use them?

You can definitely do the first; keys can be set up with a lifetime, after which they stop working and the server will reissue them.

I'm not sure about the second question.

For some reason the KeyStore program is not documented - at least not enough to be usable - in either the EA help file or the Sparx Web site page that sets up the download.

There is a document - at least I think I remember one - but I just cannot find it. I tried searching the Sparx site but had no luck. Perhaps it is on the Resources page, or among the white papers.

But don't panic (at least not yet) The answers you need have been posted in the forum, including the necessary 'how to' information. Search the forum and you will find them.

a) Described in the keystore help file. (The context of these instructions is from the keystore application.)

To set the expiry date of the keys, select a key from the main dialog, and then from the Tools menu select Options. This will bring up the Options dialog, as below. Enter the desired number and from the drop-down list select Days or Weeks as appropriate. Press the OK button to confirm your selection.

b) Again from the keystore application, right click on a key and select release.

The question remains, where does one find the keystore help file? Is it (only) distributed with the keystore application? Is it installed at the same time?

That fact should be documented somewhere. Then when someone asks for help, poor fools like me will realize when it is time to stop looking for an answer.
