EA and Borland Startem
« on: March 07, 2008, 02:10:50 am »
Has anyone tried successfully,  or unsuccessfully to use EA with Borland Starteam for version control?

If you have had success, what would be the best approach?

My initial thought would be to export packages (under version control) as XMI, version control in StarTeam, and once checked out, import them into EA.

Models are great!
Correct models are even greater!

Phil,

StarTeam also has an SCC compatible client.  (It may not be part of the default installation.)
Look in the EA User Guide for "Version Control Options SCC" or follow this link;
"http://sparxsystems.com/EAUserGuide/versioncontroloptionsscc.htm"

The "manual" approach that you suggest is precisely what EA does with its integrated VC functionality.

Some users have reported that if you have more than one VC Project present in StarTeam, it will prompt you to choose which VC Project you wish to use, each time EA connects to it.

Other than that, it should work fine.

I've tested the integration between EA and StarTeam and works fine, but as Howard says, if your repository have packages under control of more than one VC project, EA promps you always you open the repository abour which project works with eack package.
