Recommended Image Size for Nodes
« on: March 29, 2008, 04:58:38 am »
I want to use stereotypes and images within Enterprise Architect using the "Assign Metafile" option. I have been trying to ascertain the best dimensions in pixels for the images (WidthXHeight).

Does anyone have any recommendations?

In particular I am looking at Node in a deployment model.

My recommendation is to use a scalable image format like .EMF so you don't have to worry about it. (But the answer to your question is that the default size of a Node at 100% zoom is 90x90).

Paul,

Something else I've observed here might be important...

When importing bitmap images EA does not seem to honor the transparent color if one is set. This is one area where EA does not appear consistent. If memory serves there used to be no transparency support. Since then this feature has been added in some areas but has not made it to imported images yet.

The WMF format (and likely EMF, though I have not tried it) seem to handle this gracefully.

[Sparxians: this is a hint at how to avoid future bug reports or feature requests in this area.]
