Object background color according to its status?
« on: March 31, 2008, 08:16:52 pm »
Every object created in EA has a status such as Approved, Implemented, etc. What I would like to do given the size of the model is that when I open a diagram each object has a background color according to its current status. For example, I would like to have those with Implemented status in a different color.

Is this supported in 7.x? That is a feature I have missed for many years but perhaps I have just not been able to find it :)

You can turn it on somewhere in the options. The color for most objects (excepts issues etc). is only visible in the shadow.

Good remark indeed! it actually looks better with the status color applied to the border rather than the background of the object. I finally found out where to configure it:

1. Click on "Settings" menu item on the top menu bar
2. Choose "General Types" in the drop down menu item. A dialog appears.
3. Choose the "Status" tab on the dialog

Then to change the actual color of the shadow depending on the object specification status:

4. Select the status type to which applies from the boxed list
5. Change (if necessary) the Status Type Color setting (or Restore Default)
6. Click on the "Applies to..." button and place a checkmark on the "Class" object type. By default it is not enabled.

And that does it. Now I can do my modelling and keep track of what has been implemented or its general status.
