ICONIX process and EA models
« on: April 03, 2008, 07:13:17 am »
I'm fairly new to ICONIX and EA. I'm trying to make diagrams that when you double click for example on a use case, it takes you to the Robustness diagram for that use case. Which should be a 2 paragraph description and the diagram itself. I cannot for the LIFE of me figure out how to make it double click and open that new diagram

Can somebody give me like the top 10 things you should know when trying to setup an ICONIX model that includes a domain model, use case diagram, robustness analysis and sequence diagrams.

I have the 30 day trial and I'm seriously considering purchase for myself and a few colleagues.

Hi Matt,

Don't panic, this should be fairly easy. Start with this to get you thinking in the correct direction.

Try right-clicking your use case. From the context menu choose Advanced | Make Composite. You'll now see a glyph on the use case, and there will be a diagram 'below' it in the Project Browser. Open the diagram.

Now you will likely need to change this to a Robustness diagram. From the main menu - there is no context menu for this - choose Diagram | Change Type, and you will be in the correct place.

If you need to do more, or want to explore the possibilities in greater depth, search the forum. Go back about a month or so, and try various keywords from this post. There was a pretty good discussion about this in the past few weeks.

There used to be one available from the Sparx Web site. I have not looked at (or for) this for years, and the Sparx site has changed a lot since then. Thus I don't know where to find it now, or even if it is still there.

But take a look. Start with the Search box at the top right of any forum page - not the search button at near the top left or the "Search the Forum" box, which will only search forum posts - and go from there.

There is also a Help page on the ICONIX process at:

And of course, you can go to the ICONIX site and check their resources (maybe even buy Doug's book) by following the links on this page:
