Transparent Images
« on: May 13, 2008, 11:43:34 pm »
Try as I might, there is no way that I can get transparent images into EA. I have tried to make transparent png's and bmp's but when I add them to the library EA puts a background on them.

Whats the secret?

You might search the forum.  I seem to recall someone saying that WMF worked.

I have searched the forums and cant seem to find a proper lead on how to create my own transparent images. I am not familiar with metafile type so I dont know if that is going to help me greatly. Is there a utility to convert common image filetypes to metafiles?

What are "common image files"?

WMF are vector files.

So, what tool would you use for creating vector images?

It would be nice if you would post some legitimate insight that may help current and future users get a grasp on what they need to do to create their own images.

I'm a user too, not a wizard. However, I once saved a freeware copy of Metafile Companion. Seems that you have to pay for it now (not sure, though). There might be other tools. Google

Having used VISIO and exported pictures as EMF and imported them into EA. It works fine.

Inkscape is a freeware program that supports viewing and editing of vector images (including metafiles last I checked).  Haven't used it much myself, but I think it looked pretty good for a freebie.

I would also recommend VISIO. It is most widely used by EA users.
