Composite Elements define which diagram to show
« on: May 17, 2008, 12:59:07 am »
Hi all,

I marked an element as composite (for example a workdefinition in the spem profile). When I create one diagram within this element the user gets directed to the nested diagram while clicking on the element.

But how can i define the target diagram when i have more than 1 diagram within my composite element?

Thanks and greetings

Dave.B

As far as I have understood how EA works this is what happens:
  • If you make an element into a composite then EA will create that element's default composite diagram for you and associate it to the element, such that a double click on the element opens the diagram.
  • However, if you add a diagram to the element first, and then make the element a composite, then EA associates the diagram that is at the top of the element's sub-diagrams list (in the project browser).
  • So, if you add a diagram to element, which already has a composite diagram and you want to change this association or associate it with a table of contents diagram, simply make the required composite diagram the first one in the element's list and then (in the element's advanced context menu) remove the composition and then reapply it.

I hope this helps,
Dave B.
