Why did EA stop checking BPMN validation?
it seems that it did validation in 6.0

EA still has model validation, although it has always been manually run (Project | Model Validation) instead of automatic.

As for BPMN.  Actual validation of BPMN rules would have been done through the BPMN add-in  (http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/products/mdg_bpmn.html) which is still available, but by default a newer BPMN technology without the add-in is installed with EA.

To use the addin for bpmn 1.3 in EA 7.0
We "should not load the MDG technology from the BPMN add-in menu."  
What does this mean
"dont add BPMN 1.3 to EA 7.0 using the add-in menu"
"dont add BPMN 1.4 to EA 7.0 using the add-in menu"

I cant find the addin menu in EA 7.0 (may be I am stupid)

Culled from the EA 7.1 Help documentation, which contains a page specifically about BPMN 1.4.

"Version 1.4 of MDG Technology for BPMN is integrated with the Enterprise Architect installer for release 7.0 and above. This configuration does not include model validation. You can also install MDG Technology For BPMN version 1.3 separately, if you require the model validation component. However, this version is intended for - and only correctly integrates with - release 6.5 of Enterprise Architect. If you intend to install MDG Technology for BPMN 1.3, do not load it through the BPMN Add-In menu."

The best advice is to not bother with release 1.3. However, if you really want it you can install the 1.3 add-in on your PC, and access it through the Resources window. It isn't a smooth integration and you have to disable version 1.4 in the Manage Add-Ins dialog while you use 1.3.

The Add-In menu option is in the menu toolbar at the top of the EA screen, fourth option in from the right. It only displays when you have installed and registered an Add-In on your system. You are not stupid, that useful fact was missing from the Help. But now I have added it.
