Problems to Register the Product
« on: July 04, 2008, 03:06:51 am »
Hi,

I was using a trial version f EA which expired.   I have just bought a license but am unsure how to install it.

If I try to start EA it comes with an error screen.  Iff I press continue the dialog just closes if I select buy now it takes me to the purchase web site where I was already.

I tried to unistall the product and reinstall but it still comes to this silly dialog

Please help

The trial version of EA does not 'convert' to the production version. You will need to do a new installation.

NOTE: Your projects to date will work just fine. The trial version of EA creates complete 'real' projects, so you will not lose any work you've done.

You need to download the production version of the product, or use the one on CD if you have one. [This is the same as the download version; the most recent build will be on the Sparx Registered Users site. You will need the username and password you received from Sparx or your EA vendor.]

If that solves your problem great, otherwise...

Somehow your trial version seems not to be removed. Try removing both your new EA version and the trial. First use the Windows options to remove programs, and if that does not work use uninstall from the software kit (i.e. start installation and choose to uninstall) or from the folder tree you installed in (I don't remember if EA puts an uninstall program in this tree, but it might).

Once you've got the software cleared out - from the machine, not just your account - try a clean install of your new kit.

If none of that works write an email to Sparx support. Their address is on the Support page, which you can reach by clicking either of the Support links at the top or bottom of any forum page. Do this immediately since Sparx is in Australia, so their Friday work day will start soon. They might be able to shed some light on the problem, getting you going before the weekend.
